Abstract

Approximately 362 secondary metabolites (SM) with antifeedant, insecticidal, and fungicidal activities, among others, have been identified in Persea americana. Understanding their presence and diversity in avocado is crucial for the sustainability of the crop. Therefore, through phytochemical analysis using gas chromatography, a total of 74 SM were identified in 15 Hass-type avocado genotypes; 32 in leaves and 42 in flowers. The results obtained from this study significantly contribute to the knowledge of the avocado's chemical profile and the presence of these compounds in different plant organs.
