Abstract

Mineral deficiency develops due to inadequate feeding. In grazing animals, an important point to consider is the soil-plant-animal relationship that determines the use of forage and, as a consequence, the mineral contribution, which can sometimes be found in excessive or deficient quantities. . In animals that are kept in pens, this deficiency is a consequence of the diets administered to livestock, which may present inadequate concentrations of minerals. This can be caused by different factors, but they are generally found in a biologically unavailable form, which prevents their use to carry out carry out the normal bodily functions of the animal. Insufficient or in some cases excessive supplementation generates harmful effects that occur in the deterioration of the function of the immune system, reproduction and growth.
